Club Repeater update

Written by

he club's VK4RAX Repeater has had a major upgrade. The Kenwood commercial repeater, was purchased and now owned outright by the club, this was achieved by club fund raising, donations into the club and club membership.

The repeater is located along the Summit Line of Mt Cotton giving an elevation of approx 273Mts ASL with GPS coordinates of -27.61725915, 153.2155683 (locatable on Google Maps) with coverage from Ballina NSW up to Sunshine Coast Queensland and out past Toowoomba.

The repeater was installed and maintained by Peter Kohlmayer VK4LC, and work on the site was done by Peter vk4lc, John vk4jdf, Martin vk4jvc. There was around 3 hours work which also included installing antenna's, cables and installation of two racks. to mount the repeater.

Donated by Martin these racks hold the two repeaters VK4RAX in regular use and Peters repeater VK4RPT that is getting good use.

VK4RAX operational Frequency is 147.075 Mhz with a + 600 offset and and VK4RPT is operational on 438.250 with a -5.4Mhz offset VK4RPT digital APC025

We are now in the process of updating the Antennas to two Folded dipoles and this is being done as a club Project, which will enable us to replace the aging Colinears that are currently in use on the Tower.
